For over 40 years, Mariposa has been a staple in Mendocino County for healthy, fresh and natural foods.

In 1979, owner Mary Anne first opened Mariposa Produce, selling fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers, and from what she'd bring back from weekly trips to the Farmer's Market in Santa Rosa.

Soon, the store grew to include cheese and dairy items, bulk foods, and packaged natural foods. As our product assortment grew, so did the need for more space.

In 1993, the store moved across the street to 600 South Main Street (currently George's Geodes & Gems). We added meat and seafood, specialty foods, and health and beauty aids.

 

Serious growing pains and lack of space mandated our decision to build our present 10,000 square foot location at 500 South Main Street, now known as Mariposa Market.

Our store is an essential business in Willits and we are committed to providing healthy food for a healthy community.
